This Is Emma Watson’s Favourite New Trainer Brand
by Rebecca Gillam
And it’s eco-friendly
As well as Emma Watson’s role as UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and founder of HeForShe campaign, the actress is finding time (somehow) to help the world in other ways too.
Not only has she recently collaborated with New York-based brand Zady but has been repping a relatively unknown trainer brand — Veja — and they’re sustainable.
The French brand creates theirs, from organic cotton, wild rubber from the Amazon and vegetable-tanned leather. with a transparent production chain located in Brazil.
Veja says: ‘Let's try to offer a different vision which combines fair trade and ecology and links together economy, social initiatives and the environment. A vision that proposes cultural change. Transparency.’

We’re all fans of the white trainer — the Stan Smith, the Superstars — and why not go for a brand that’s kind to the environment and the farmers?
Watson even took to Instagram to inform her followers about the sustainable brand, explaining they use ‘innovative, ecological materials, working closely with the people who produce them to try and create an economical, ecological, and social difference […] These trainers use recycled plastic bottles to create the upper, and #wildrubber in the soles’.

Spreading the word about environmentally friendly brands on her social media platforms is becoming quite the norm. Just a few weeks ago she posted a picture of herself wearing a Maiyet suit, explaining the brand is: ‘committed to forging partnerships with artisans globally and has entered into a strategic partnership with @buildanest, an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to training and developing artisan businesses to promote entrepreneurship, prosperity and dignity in places that need it most.’
Zady too, which she’s collaborating with on capsule collection ‘Inspired By Emma Watson’, was featured on her Instagram from her trip in Malawi.
