BASIC FUNCTION:
The Claremont McKenna College Web Content Developer will join the department of Strategic Communications and Marketing web team ready to design, maintain and optimize enterprise web Drupal and WordPress content management systems. As a member of a cross collaborative team, the successful web content developer will support the mission of the college across a variety of internal and external facing web sites, web applications, and digital projects. This position reports to the Director of Brand Communications and Web Strategy.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Working as part a collaborative member of the Strategic Communications and Marketing team, the Web Content Developer will perform a variety of tasks related to the architecting, designing, developing, maintaining, troubleshooting, debugging and drives the implementation of dynamic web-based systems and software platforms for Drupal and WordPress. The Web Content Developer will also be tasked with supporting web-based email marketing applications and other digital marketing platforms as needed. This role combines technical web application expertise and systems skills along with creative and design thinking functions and an overall passion to deliver outstanding web-based products while supporting the mission of Claremont McKenna College.
Oversee various software implementations and troubleshooting as needed.
Maintain web content and update web content as needed.
Oversee strategic communications to multiple audiences and constituencies for long-term initiatives, often in collaboration and coordination with other College departments to ensure alignment and coherence of messaging.
Work autonomously to make independent decisions surrounding web-based quality design.
Use independent judgement to update systems, software, and debug web systems to optimal utilization.
Knowledgeable with ADA compliance applied to web applications and WCAG 2.0 AA guidelines. Ability to routinely monitors for ADA compliance with applications and software tools.
Ability to apply HTML email marketing platforms such as Blackbaud Net Community. The web content developer will also send out college communications as needed.
Provide web support to third party vendors and integration tools as needed to develop web theme patches, user testing and visual regression testing as needed.
Apply creative insight and technical expertise in using Digital Asset Management systems, Adobe Creative Applications, and apply brand management to web and digital properties.
Regularly use various technology platforms and applications to achieve web-based goals and various projects.
Provide web support through handling information with discretion and applying good judgement and accuracy to maintain the College’s brand integrity.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or Information Technology or related field or combination of education and experience. Advanced level degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years continual relevant professional experience in related work in web content development in the domains of content publishing, basic site building, and management and web application and site enhancements. Experience in front-end Drupal and WordPress content development is preferred. Demonstrated experience in design, theme custom design, configuration and website maintenance. Experience in using Digital Asset Management systems, Adobe Creative Applications, and experience with brand management applied to web and digital properties.
LICENSES: Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the College's automobile insurance carrier.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
The web content developer must be skilled and highly competent in the domains of front-end dynamic web design/development, site administration/maintenance, responsive applications using the latest markup scripting languages and front-end frameworks such as HTML5/XHTML, Bootstrap, JavaScript, and PHP, and AngularJS.
Knowledgeable and proficient in Drupal in the following domains: front-end development and design; basic site-building skills including adding and editing content/nodes, site administration, managing user accounts, UI modules, page settings field types, taxonomy, navigation, content management; and performing edits to themes/sub themes, managing menus, user blocks, and custom and contributed module development.
Knowledgeable in front and back-end development of Wordpress sites. Knowledge and experience in theme maintenance, functionality enhancements, performance updates, administration, familiarity with APIs and plug-ins; programming skills required.
Skilled in setting up and managing Git repositories and work flow, cloning and merging branches in development and staging environments.
Highly proficient with Adobe Creative Suite tools, Photoshop, XD, Illustrator, and other design applications.
Skillfully leverage Adobe tools for optimizing front-end design user experience productions, this includes but not limited to, wireframes, high-res comps, visual mockups, layouts, photo enhancements, and graphic style sheets, and pattern libraries for web and digital systems and platforms.
Familiar with the discipline of brand management applied to web content, web applications and general user experience. The position requires skillful application of and adherence to college brand guidelines.
Proficient with CRM ticketing systems such as Zoho Desk case management platform for managing incoming/outgoing web support services and requests.
Content develop must possess the skills for documenting code, comment on, write clean code for review, and enforce code standards.
The web content developer requires documented experience using local hosting platforms along with enterprise cloud web application hosting deployments and platforms such as Pantheon and Campus Press.
Experienced and skilled with command line tools such as Mac Terminal or Drush.
Knowledgeable with ADA compliance applied to web applications and WCAG 2.0 AA guidelines. Ability to routinely monitors for ADA compliance with applications and software tools.

The web content developer must have the skill and ability to collaborate with team members while working independently in pursuit of best web application solutions for the college.
Ability to learn new programming languages and software tools quickly and as needed
The web content developer should have knowledge of and familiarity with best practices in Google analytics and SEO.
The web content developer must assist outside vendors with web development theme patches, user testing and visual regression testing as needed.
Knowledge of or interest in Agile management workflow approaches and methods
Ability to maintain a high-level confidentiality
REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Regular hours may vary due to the needs of the College or division. Some evening and/or weekend work may be required to support campus programs and activities. Occasional requirements to work outside of standard business hours may be required to ensure timely responsiveness to our college community.

This is a full-time, 12-month year-round, exempt level, benefits-eligible position.
ANTICIPATED HIRING SALARY:
$67,000 PER YEAR
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment and include reaching, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. May occasionally lift/push/pull items up to 20 lbs.
