Marathon Strategies is looking to expand our finance team with a Staff Accountant position. This newly created role is a result of our continued growth. The Staff Accountant will report directly to our Controller and will have a hybrid schedule, requiring 1-2 days per week in the office.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation, maintenance, and reconciliation of the general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Assist in managing accounts receivables, tracking payments, and resolving any discrepancies.
• Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Handle employee expenses process and issue client expense related invoices with the appropriate support.
• Collaborate in preparing financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with internal policies, GAAP, and regulatory standards.
• Actively participate in automation and process improvement initiatives, contributing ideas and supporting system upgrades to drive efficiencies across accounting functions.
• Manage the accounts payable process and issue year-end 1099s.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience is required.
• 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment. Experience in the public relations industry is preferred but not mandatory.
• Proficiency in Net Suite and Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with financial reporting tools is a plus.
