BASIC FUNCTION: The purpose of this position is to provide research support to the PI and Research Fellows at Howard University Center of Excellence in Housing and Urban Research and Policy (CHURP). This part-time Research Assistant position will be filled by someone who is familiar with data management and data analysis methods.
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY: No supervisory duties (or note who the person will supervise)
NATURE AND SCOPE: To conduct research under the supervision of the PI and other research Fellows at CHURP, provide data management and data analysis support.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: - Conduct research under the supervision of the PI and Research Fellows at CHURP.
- Perform data gathering and data management duties and help with writing of reports and research papers.
- Participates in weekly group meetings, and professional training with or without students.
- Coordinate and ensure development of pertinent reports and their timely delivery.
- Conduct data collection, statistical analysis, and data interpretation responsibilities as needed.
- Participates in development of manuscripts and reports and conducts primary and secondary data analyze
CORE COMPETENCIES: - Experience with statistical packages, including R and STATA, report writing and new data science methods, including web scraping and text analysis.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented large and small ensemble environment
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience writing and submitting both academic papers and research grants. Competence in both oral and written English and ability to articulate concisely and in a professional manner.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: M.A. in Economics or B.A. in Economics with concentration in Statistics and Econometrics
Compliance Salary Range Disclosure $35-$45 per hour
