Job Description

About the Role

At Bureau Detroit, impactful, high-quality visual storytelling is at the core of everything we do. We’re on the hunt for a talented and experienced Photographer (ACD level) who brings both artistic vision and production excellence to the table. This role will help define and elevate the visual language of our clients' brands across product, lifestyle, and campaign photography.

You’ll collaborate closely with our creative and production teams, working both in-studio and on-location to produce scroll-stopping imagery that moves audiences and drives results. Our clients span hospitality, real estate, retail, and lifestyle — and your portfolio should reflect versatility across these (or similar) industries.

This position is hybrid, with a mix of regular time spent in our Eastern Market studio and remote work.

What Success Looks Like

  • Creative Fluency: You're immersed in art, fashion, design, photography, and social trends — and know how to translate that inspiration into brand-forward imagery.

  • Collaborative Energy: You work well with creative directors, stylists, producers, and clients to bring big ideas to life.

  • Visual Precision: Lighting, color, texture, and mood aren’t just details — they’re the language you speak.

  • Project-Driven: You thrive in fast-paced environments, managing timelines and maintaining creative excellence from pre-pro to post.

  • Leadership by Example: You push the creative bar higher while supporting the team in producing best-in-class work.

What You’ll Do

• Lead both studio and lifestyle photography projects for client brands

• Execute shot lists, creative briefs, and mood boards with precision and flair

• Contribute to creative ideation, location scouting, and set styling discussions

• Maintain strong visual standards across all images and shoots

• Keep pace with trends in photography, styling, lighting, and gear — and apply them to your work

• Collaborate with editors and designers to ensure brand consistency

• Manage and maintain photography gear and studio workflows

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of photography experience (agency or in-house preferred)
  • A portfolio that showcases elevated product and lifestyle photography, with strong examples of studio work
  • A deep understanding of branding and visual storytelling
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and CaptureOne
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • A positive, adaptable, and collaborative approach to team and client work

Why Bureau

Salary Range

Competitive salary dependent on experience and portfolio strength.

Benefits

• Health coverage

• Paid time off and holidays

• Professional development opportunities

• Creative studio environment with top-tier equipment

• Potential for performance-based bonuses

To Apply

Please send your resumé, portfolio, and a brief cover letter to anthony@bureaudetroit.com with the subject: “Photographer – [Your Name]”. Your portfolio should include a mix of commercial, lifestyle, and product work.
