Payroll Specialist / Analyst (Contract to Hire)

Location: Plano, TX (Hybrid – Minimum 3 days onsite/week)

Pay: $28–$33/hour | $50,000–$70,000 annually (depending on experience)

Start Date: May 2025

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist / Analyst for a contract-to-hire opportunity with a valued healthcare client in Plano, Texas. This role will support payroll operations across multiple healthcare facilities and has become available due to an internal promotion. We’re looking for someone eager to take ownership of a complex, multi-state payroll process and grow within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for 10–20 EINs across various hospital locations.
  • EINs range from 30 to 260 full-time employees (FTEs) per facility.
  • Manage a bi-weekly payroll cycle using Paycom (REQUIRED).
  • Facilitate seamless payroll operations and ensure compliance with internal policies and federal/state regulations.
  • Train and support local HR teams on payroll best practices and system navigation.
  • Handle Paycom Time Import Management and address any timekeeping discrepancies.
  • Work closely with HR and Finance departments to resolve payroll issues promptly and accurately.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
  • 2+ years of multi-state payroll experience , ideally including: TX, LA, MS, OK, AZ, NM, ID, OH, PA.
  • Experience using Paycom Payroll & Timekeeping Systems (Web Clock experience a plus).
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance, reporting, and audit practices.
  • Experience processing payroll for both hourly and salaried employees .
  • Excellent communication skills, professional demeanor, and attention to detail.

  • Preferred:
  • Prior payroll experience in the healthcare industry .
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, HR, or related field (not required).
