Job Description
Robert Half Management Resources is recruiting for a Director of Grants & Accounting for our growing community-focused nonprofit client for a 6+ month on-site project in the south bay of Los Angeles. This consultant will report into the CEO and take on responsibility for a full range of grants management, financial reporting, and oversight of the accounting function. Primary responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, financial statements, reporting, budget development, forecasting, grants management and compliance, audit, and tax return oversight. This interim Director of Grants & Accounting will be expected to excel in a collaborative environment, working closely with senior leadership, funders, community leaders, and clients. The ideal consultant will possess a strong foundation in non-profit grant accounting and outstanding communication skills with a commitment to fostering a positive team environment.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the grants and accounting, including budgeting, financial forecasting, monthly reporting, cash flow, and the annual audit/990 return.
• Collaborate with the controller to prepare monthly financial statements, including grant/financial reports for the leadership team, program directors, and managers.
• Promote regulatory compliance and monitor internal controls, including maintaining and developing policies, procedures, and system changes to ensure correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and government grants accounting.
• Oversee the accuracy of all financial documents, reports, cash management, cash flow, month-end closing journal entries, and grants fiscal reporting.
• Develop and maintain relationships with bankers, funders, internal team, and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the leadership team and department directors to prepare and lead the budget process.
• Oversee the grants revenue and expenditures, including monitoring of the budgets.
• Serve as the primary liaison for the annual audit and Form 990.
• Collaborate with the CEO in the presentation of financial statements to the Board of Directors.
• Supervise the controller who oversees the accounting team.
• Develop and maintain process documentation and procedures
• Participates in meetings and serves on designated committees inclusive of supporting strategic planning.
• Provides direct supervision, evaluation and discipline for the Accounting Department.
• Prior management experience overseeing accounting and finance teams
• Strong foundation in non-profit grant accounting
• Experience with PowerPlan and Financial Edge (Blackbaud) software is a plus!
• Ability to work in-office daily
