Job Overview:

We are seeking a results-driven, highly experienced Chief Estimator with extensive background in Shell Contracting to lead our preconstruction efforts in the Miami market. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and deep knowledge of the local construction landscape. This role is critical to the success of our operations, driving accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates while leading a high-performing estimating team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all estimating functions, ensuring timely and accurate bid submissions for shell construction projects.
  • Review architectural and structural plans, specifications, and project documents to develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients in the Miami area.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of estimators, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze historical data and current market conditions to create competitive pricing strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with project management, business development, and operations teams to align estimating with execution capabilities.
  • Evaluate project risks and provide strategic input during bid/no-bid decisions.
  • Represent the company in client meetings and presentations when required.
  • Requirements:

    • Minimum 7 years of experience in construction estimating, with a strong focus on Shell Contracting.
    • Proven experience leading estimating teams and managing multiple bids simultaneously.
    • In-depth knowledge of Miami's construction market, including pricing trends and subcontractor network.
    • Fully bilingual (English & Spanish) – both written and verbal communication.
    • Strong proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Advanced skills in Excel, PlanSwift, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
    • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and analytical skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Background in general contracting or commercial construction.
    • Experience preparing design-build and GMP estimates.
